Travel to Nagarkot for spectacular Himalaya views. Detailed Itinerary Day 1: Arrival at the Kathmandu Airport Prior to landing at Kathmandu’s Tribhuvan International Airport, you may well have some excellent views of snowy Himalayan peaks. After arrival and customs clearance you’ll be met by the tour coordinator and transferred to your hotel. Day 2: Sightseeing in Kathmandu Valley After breakfast, enjoy a sightseeing tour of Kathmandu’s Durbar Square, situated in the heart of the city. This entire royal palace complex is filled with historical monuments. See the stone statue of Hanuman and the palace’s golden gate. Visit the Taleju temple, at 36.6 meters high, the temple to Lord Krishna, built in the 17th century, and the Jaggannath temple, famous for its erotic art. The Swayambhu Nath stupa is situated on a hill, and from this point you’ll have incredible views of the Kathmandu valley and the Himalayan range. Visit the Pasupatinath temple, an important Hindu shrine. You’ll also stop at the Boudhananth stupa, the largest in South Asia. Day 3: Sightseeing Tour in Patan Patan, the second-largest city in the valley, has been listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. Its central Durbar Square is absolutely packed with temples, and is an architectural feast. There is a far greater concentration of temples per square meter here than in either Kathmandu or Bhaktapur. You’ll have time to admire the most stunning display of Newari architecture in Nepal. Next on the itinerary is a drive to Nagarkot. At an altitude of 1,950 meters, it is an excellent spot for views of snowy mountain peaks and spectacular sunsets and sunrises. In the morning, when the sky is clear, you can enjoy views of the Himalayas including Lantang, Everest, Amadablam, and Kanchenjunga. Day 4:Sightseeing Tour in Bhaktapur After breakfast, you’ll head out on a drive from Nagarkot to Bhaktipur. Bhaktapur city is also a World Heritage Site, and is the third major town in the valley. The main points of interest in Bhaktapur are the lion gate and the golden gate. The lion gate dates to the late 17th century and is guarded on either side by huge statues of lions, with stone images of gods standing alongside. The golden gate is said to be the most beautiful and richly molded specimen of its kind in the world. Day 5: End of Tour Departure from the Kathmandu airport.
